FAQs
How do I use the tooth whitening kit?
It is really simple. First you mold the mouth guards using boiling water. Add the gel to your mouth guards and insert in your mouth along with the LED light. 45 minutes later you’ll have a pearly white smile. Watch the how to video here.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The whitening gel is placed into your custom fitted tray (included in your kit), once inserted over your teeth the active ingredient in the gel starts to break down. Oxygen enters into the enamel and dentine, which in turn breaks down the stain inside the tooth. The structure of the tooth is not changed -it is only the enamel of the tooth that appears whiter. For best and safest results, we recommend you closely follow the instructions provided with your kit.
How long do the results last?
Results will vary from person to person and will depend on your lifestyle choices. We recommend you whiten no more than once a month to maintain your Pearly White smile. Whitening generally has better results on yellow stains versus grey colored stains, but you will still see an improvement.
What are the ingredients?
The active ingredient is high quality carbamide peroxide - the same used by dentists for in-office or take-home teeth whitening treatments.
How long does whitening take?
We recommend you leave the whitening gel on for about 45 minutes to an hour.
What is the blue gel?
The blue gel is a desensitization gel which you use after whitening if you have any sensitivity. You simply rub it on your teeth/gums and leave it on for 10 minutes.
What does the light do?
The LED light helps to activate the whitening gel and speeds up the process of whitening.

Professional Teeth Whitening Kit: 3 x 3ml whitening gel; desensitization gel; mouth guards; mouth guard case; LED light.

Opened you can keep it in the cupboard or drawer for 1 year. Unopened you can store it 2 years.

General Tooth whitening questions:
How long does it take to see results?
Most people see results after their very first application. Generally your smile will be noticeably whiter after about 3-4 treatments.
Can I whiten if I have braces?
Unfortunately no you can’t - whitening may interfere with the glue holding your braces on and will cause uneven whitening. Best to wait until you have your braces off.
What if I have sensitive teeth?
If you have sensitive teeth we recommend our Professional kit which includes a desensitization gel. Alternatively our new On The Go whitening strips are specially formulated for people with sensitive teeth.
I’m pregnant/breastfeeding, can I whiten my teeth?
We don’t recommend whitening while you’re pregnant or breast feeding, but feel free to ask your GP or specialist for advice.
Does it work on veneers?
Whitening might remove some stains from your veneers, but will only whiten natural tooth enamel. However, we have had amazing results with veneers in the past.
I have holes in my teeth, can I still whiten?
We don’t recommend whitening while you have holes in your teeth. If your teeth aren’t in a healthy state we recommend seeing a dentist for advice first.
What is the recommended age for the kits?
We don’t recommend whitening for anyone under 18 - their pulp (nerve) is still exposed and will be sensitive.
Do I need to see a dentist before whitening?
We do recommend you see your dentist for a scale and clean before your first whitening treatment.
Is there anyone who can’t whiten?
We do not recommend whitening for the following:
Children under the age of 18 as the pulp (nerve of the tooth) is enlarged until this age and whitening will cause irritation and sensitivity.
Pregnant and breastfeeding, however you can seek advice from your obstetrician/pediatrician.
People with health related issues – e.g. colitis or crohn’s as these health issues can cause damage to your enamel. We recommend you seek advice from your GP or dentists before buying if you have:
- Periodontal disease
- Overly sensitive teeth
- Have had recent oral surgery
- Decayed teeth
- Exposed roots
- Exposed dentine
- Jaw problems
Can I whiten Caps, Crowns, Fillings or Veneers?
Whitening will not whiten your crowns, caps, fillings or veneers. Whitening gel will only whiten natural tooth enamel. However, if there are any external food or drink stains on these restorations they will come off. The actual color of the filling, cap, veneer or crown will not be altered. Any restorations on your front teeth may need to be replaced after the whitening process is finished. If mold material gets trapped underneath the wire or bridge, it can loosen your bonded retainer/bridge or you might have difficulty removing the mold from your mouth. You may want to get the molds made at your dentist if you have a bridgework.
Does Teeth Whitening cause sensitivity or any side effects?
Some people experience sensitivity when whitening their teeth and this is normal and an expected side effect. Our professional kits include a desensitization gel, which will reduce your sensitivity after whitening. If you do experience sensitivity during treatment we recommend:
- rinsing your mouth with warm water after whitening
- using a soft bristled toothbrush
- brushing your teeth with a sensitive teeth toothpaste (such as Sensodyne)
- avoiding hot, spicy or overly cold food
Sensitivity will generally last no more than 24 hours.
How often should I whiten?
We recommend whitening once a week for the first month and then as needed, but not more than once a month. If you choose to whiten more often, we recommend you ask your dentist for advice first.
I have molds from my dentist can I use them?
Absolutely. We recommend you clean them with toothpaste and a toothbrush after each whitening session to make sure there isn’t gel left on them.
Is this permanent?
No, teeth whitening isn’t permanent - stains will build up again over time.
Can I still drink tea/coffee?
Yes you can, but the stains may build up faster and you may need to whiten every four weeks or so.
I’m a smoker will this help?
Yes, teeth whitening works really well on yellow stains so you will see a noticeable result as the whitening will remove the tobacco stains.
Does it work if I have fillings?
Whitening is completely safe for your fillings and will remove some of the stains on your fillings.
I have a retainer from my braces, can I still use this?
Yes, although we do recommend that you be careful when you mold your mouth guards to not mold into the retainer. It is absolutely safe for the glue, but we recommend you don’t whiten over the metal bars holding on your retainer.
Will whitening damage my enamel?
If you follow our guidelines for the best and safest results there will be no damage to your enamel. If you’re concerned we recommend you ask your dentist.
How many shades whiter will I go?
Results vary from person to person depending on the makeup of their enamel - but you will see a significant change in the color after about 4 applications.
Will my teeth whiten faster if I whiten more than you say?
If you want to whiten more than we recommend for best and safest results, please speak with your dentist first.
I have grey colored teeth, will whitening still work?
We see awesome results on yellower stains, but you will still see a great improvement.
Is this any better than whitening toothpaste from the supermarket?
Yes, significantly better. Whitening toothpaste from the supermarket generally has only 0.08% of the active ingredient, carbamide peroxide.
During bleaching my gums were burning, leaving areas of my gums white. Is this due to overfilling?
Either the trays are covering your gum area or you have overfilled the trays with whitening gel. Place a smaller droplet in each tooth or bleach line midway across the inner wall of the tray.
Gums will return to normal within a few hours and the whiteness will disappear. Avoid hot, spicy foods until your gums are fully healed and wait at least one week before whitening again. Treat your teeth for only half the recommended time during your next treatment and slowly increase the whitening time with subsequent treatments. Using your desensitization gel will also help with the burning and help your gums to heal.
What should I do if I swallow some solution?
Do NOT induce vomiting. Call the poisons control hotline - (800) 222-1222 or a doctor.
What should I do if the whitening solution comes into contact with my skin or hair?
If skin or hair contact occurs, remove contaminated clothing and flush skin and hair with running water.
What should I do if I get whitening solution in my eye?
If in eyes, hold eyelids apart and flush the eye continuously with running water. Continue flushing until advised to stop by the poisons control hotline (800) 222-1222 or a doctor, or for at least 15 minutes
